  •  Uh, unfortunately that is not the case. (0+ / 0-)

I've had numerous conversations on this site with people who think that terrorism is a big nothing. And the concept that a person who plans attacks on Seattle from a cave in Yemen or Afghanistan is merely perpetrating a "crime" that we should be able to deal with using our traditional jurisprudence is just wrong. These people don't subscribe to our laws, nor our values, and understand nothing other than death. That is unfortunate as well. Barack Obama does not okay drone attacks because he is an evil man bent on killing innocent bystanders; he does it, hesitantly, because he must. And I support him. Which to some these days makes me a troll here. Oh well.

    •  I support SOME of Obama's policies. (5+ / 0-)

I think the hyper-focus on terrorism has severely damaged our identity.  We live in fear--constantly.  Go around and talk to people and see how terrified they are.  And it's not just terrorism..people are just scared because of the culture of fear we've been living in for the past 10-15 years.

Our overblown response to 9-11 had a lot to do with that.  Not Afghanistan--again I supported that.  But Iraq, and the Patriot Act, and our sacrifice of all of these consitutional rights.

It's insanity.  I don't claim that terrorism isn't a PROBLEM--of course it is--but to use it to turn this country into the
United States of CounterTerror--which is what we have done--is obscene.  Bush started it--but Obama has perpetuated it far more than I would have expected.
