At this age, I can't tell if I am being cogent or just rambling.

I am hoping people here will either shoot holes in the analysis or expand with theirs.

It's a legal debate that I see lacking, as most are just discussing the messagers although, honestly, I haven't had as much time to tune in lately.  Gardening season!!

It's difficult to be happy knowing so many suffer. We must unite.

Might fit better, on a strictly legal basis.

It ain't called paranoia - when they're really out to get you. 6 points.

    •  WoE - have you looked at Espionage Act (0+ / 0-)

      for references to Conscience?

About 2-3 years ago, the Assange was being threatened with Espionage Act, I did a good bit of reading on the Act and on criticisms of it.  (Unfortunately, I lost all that research in a hard drive crash.)

I seem to remember reading about 'conscience' in relation to 'intent', particularly in regard to disclosing/publishing restricted materials.  I don't recollect if that subject was in the body of the Act or in commentary.  Although in my mind's eye, I see thelines containing the 'conscience' bits as broken into a legal-looking numbered/lettered outline.

If my dim recollections are accurate (as to the existence, not the content of) of, say, 'Exceptions for conscience' or something to that effect, I think it would be helpful for understanding both the defense & prosecution arguments available.
