doesn't take care of his "toys." Yesterday he was in a rush to pull a large stump out of the wash, and he got a couple  straps and hooked the stump to the bumper of our pickup.

I told him the straps were too wimpy & would break. But noooooo. He said they were plenty strong, and signaled me to back up. The straps immediately broke, and he cussed and blamed the country in which they were manufactured...

Coincidentally, his leather belt broke yesterday, and I went out and bought him a web belt. I sure hope it doesn't break while he's at work today, sitting behind a desk. I'm sure it has a lot of pressure on it. :)

I ordered one via etsy.  I wonder if emeraldmaiden makes mens belts.

We had a 12 foot high "stump" of a long dead tree to remove.  The circumference was probably 12-15 feet around. After we dug all the way around it (way to big for a chainsaw to go through it) it took the backhoe and two work trucks with winches to get it to tip over.  The earth shook and the dog hid under the bed.

We would still be hacking it up today, but a neighbor of ours wanted it whole, and since he owns a loader so big it is probably illegal on the street, we gladly let him have it.

Pickup trucks are for pulling boats.

Which reminds me. Mr. C may have burned out the chain saw yesterday.

He doesn't think they really need oil.

in the "motor", in the fuel if it is a 2 cycle saw, and on the bar and chain.

My wonderful grandmother said, "If you don't break things, you never get anything new."

I had a chevy impala I felt that way about.  I finally sold it and took the $ to live in Colorado for a summer.

My grandmother broke all of her dish set on the back wall of the garage so my grandfather couldn't back out of buying her the new set he had promised her.  Funny girl!

believe that HE needs to perform the maintenance until after they're broken. Also, according to his rules, things with blades never need sharpening.

I should mention that he never throws away the broken tools/chain saws/weed eaters etc. Says when he finds the time he's going to "fix" them. Some were purchased during the Vietnam era.

            Beginning to get the picture?

is familiar to me.  That is how we stay in business at the lawnmower shop!

Today we are working with a delightful man who put his battery in backwards.  His 10 year old machine (not even our brand!) was fried.  We replaced one of the wiring harnesses, and it still doesn"t run like a new mower!  Imagine that.  We will give it another go, but the best thing to do is replace it, because replacing all the wiring and switches would cost about the same as a new one.

You can hide things like broken weed wackers.  If he doesn't miss them in a year or two, quietly dispose of them.

Then , blame him when he can't find it!
