of your education benefits, but take time before making a decision as to where and to what end for your future. If you thinking about attending a college/university whose cost looks prohibitive what's available via your Chapter 33 benefit, see if your school-of-choice is a Yellow Ribbon participant. If "traditional" 4yr/graduate school route is not your thing, consider apprenticeship and OJT-type programs. While it is true that vets should not feel restricted from "telling their stories," it is also true that telling them in some venues, to some audiences, yields greater benefit to the vets than in others to others. Sharing stories with friends/acquaintances may (or may not) provide a sense of support or community or encouragement to developing an evolving narrative pertaining to military and post-military experiences. Writing sometimes helps fill in gaps, as well as providing time for reflection, and gives one an opportunity to get greater perspective (and sometimes thoughtful feedback) on experiences. Just google "veterans AND writing" and lots of links will appear. There are also veterans groups on most college campuses now, as well as veterans writing groups on some, that provide help through the transition to college, if one so desires. Also, without listing specific organization links, seek connection to a veterans/spouse/family advocacy organization. A pretty thorough list (with links) appears here. Lots of dedicated folks continue to do great work even if mainstream public support or engagement wanes or even becomes less-than-tolerant to vets' needs as they return from experiences most folks can not, nor will not, wish to understand.
