Programs get cancelled, but others spring up that do essentially the same or more.

But I do find it interesting that there seems to be no mention of bulk-collected internet traffic in the stuff Snowden has.  Either it really has stopped (unlikely in my opinion) or it has been isolated from these other programs at a level Snowden didn't have access to.

    •  Snowden has thousands of doc's... (15+ / 0-)

...as I noted in my last post here (still on the Rec List, for the moment). We have nowhere near the full story on this; and, we probably never will. One may only track down the information from other documented sources until then.

What I find rather amazing is we have high-level/senior AT&T technicians (Tice), top NSA execs (former) such as Binney, et al,  and former former FBU counterrorism experts that have been speaking in public for years on these subjects, and in many instances, in great detail. So, a 30-year-old guy comes along with a Powerpoint presentation and some computer files, and the press finally pays attention.

In journalism, if you have two, reliable/confirming sources, you've got a story. And, stories have been published and broadcast on the state's egregious behavior, as far as surveillance of the population's concerned, for many years.
