  •  I can address the real why. (18+ / 0-)

America is turning into a fascist state. And these corporations have found a cheap and easy way to get the government to do their dirty work for them.

Just throw the word terrorist around frequently to scare the shit out of people, and no one will ask too many questions at first.

Thank the heavens THAT is changing.

    The possibilities are endless:

Regulatory agencies not regulating but instead running as NSA liaisons between Corporation and State.

Profits maximized at any cost, without having to answer to pesky citizens or watchdog groups at all.

You can pick not only the best and brightest for your work force, but the most malleable and compliant.

You can make examples of dissenting voices without having to contend with labor laws or the first or fourth amendments.

You can be bailed out all the time, because you are so big, if you fail, you take the country down with you.

And you can collect corporate spying material from your government that spies on your competitors overseas.

Weeeeeeee! It's like a giant amusement park without any rules! Unless you are a third world country, or a poor person. Then there are only draconian rules, made by secret courts that collect dossiers on you while denying you civil rights, a living wage, affordable effecacious healthcare or an affordable education.

Sell your soul for one of the above--assuming it hasn't been sold out from under you.
