    I was against voting rights?

I was saying voting rights should have been made a much bigger part of our platform and what George W. Bush did in 2000 and in 2004 should have been a matter of outrage within the party and put front and center over and over again. Funding put towards working on the issue too. But it wasn't. It was us weird lefties who kept working on it, some of whom were demonized for caring about the issue by our more mainstream Democratic fellows. Presented as crazy people. There was a while there when I just stopped talking to white Democrats about voting rights and what was going on in the country, and what I feared might happen, because about 80% of the white Democrats I talked to just wanted not to talk about it. (and yeah, I'm white). Black Democrats understood, but they weren't in the majority.

Again, this is an issue that the party (not talking individual Senators or Congresspeople, but the party as an organization) takes up when it is convenient and drops when it is not.

If we want something different than that, we need to change the party.
