  •  This is all about how all regulations are bad. (12+ / 0-)

They couldn't care less about the "burdens" this regulation would have, especially since it's something negotiated out with the parties involved.  It's instead all about how they can block any and every attempt to govern and to show that government can be good for people.  These Republicans are out to prove that government can't function and they're doing it by preventing that in any/every way they can.  And their voters aren't calling them on it.  They're spreading lies about the impact on this, on Obamacare, on gasoline standards, on women's health and every other thing that they can make up because they just want to continue to be rewarded by those who reward the temper tantrums and "NO, NO, NO" coming from the spoiled brat caucus.  They obstruct because obstructing and destruction is easier than constructing good laws and because they're paid to by those who will make millions and billions off the government being incapable of regulating and controlling industries as they attempt to make profits any/everywhere they can get away with it.  Examples abound, like trying to avoid the EPA monitoring particulates and pollution from factories, power plants and feedlots - every day they're able to delay EPA and other government regulations is another day of profits.  Every day the government can't regulate banks and finance casinos is another day millions more gets put into the pockets of the financiers of Wall Street, Fleet Street and the other financial centers of the world.

They don't argue against this because it's a bad idea.  They argue against this because they're paid to screw up government and keep it from helping the 99.9%.

    •  Happy to regulate women's vaginas, marriage, birth (5+ / 0-)

control, prayer in schools, and a host of other issues they like though. This is why calling any of them "libertarian" or "states rights" is utterly ridiculous. All about getting their way for the cause of billionaires and religious grifters.
