As of just a couple of days ago, Obama was not going to be able to appoint anyone either to the NLRB or the CFPB. Now he will be able to appoint people of his choice to these positions. And Reid has not promised to put away the nuclear option for the future either. In all likelihood, this means the republicans will let Obama appoint whoever he wants to non-judicial positions until the next election. And I have a feeling they will be a lot more subdued when it comes to blocking judicial nominations too.

The only thing given up is that Obama has to find new appointees to fill two of the NLRB positions.

This is 90% of what we wanted. Reid was able to make a credible threat, and McConnell backed down, with just a fairly minor concession given to allow him to save face.

I agree that it would have been nice to get rid of the filibuster. But, if the Republicans behave, that won't be necessary.
