  •  a quibble about "free" (0+ / 0-)

Medicaid coverage may come with a large bill later. As far as I have seen, no details have been sorted out as to how the new Medicaid recipients will fare with their states when they go to implement "estate recovery."

Will Medicaid recipients who are low income but have assets (such as a home) find those assets have liens attached to them?

And might Medicaid charge not what the person actually used in care, but a per capita minimum charge? I read one state - was it AZ? - that charge was $3000+ per month.

In other words, some of Medicaid's mechanisms that are set up as if to make sure that people end up in abject poverty if they were not there already when they went on Medicaid, may still be present.

In any case, unless there is solid evidence that this is not going to be the case, it is not exactly correct to advertise the coverage thus received as "free."

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated
