  •  Oh, come on. They're jumping the gun, (6+ / 0-)

but surely you recognize the pattern they think they see (hopefully prematurely). If we actually manage to get what we want without pissing away bargaining power for a “gentleman's agreement,” it will be a new ending to a very old story.

Besides, it's worth remembering that this is a compromised compromised compromise. We should be talking about reforming the filibuster for laws and judicial nominations and cabinet nominations. Managing to squeak a few cabinet nominees through by holding the sword of Damocles over McConnell solves only a very small part of the problem.

    •  They see that "pattern" regardless (4+ / 0-)

of facts.  I tire of that kind of thinking.  It's the video game.  They are slaying dragons with their comments.  It's why I come here less and less.

He's just hell bent on ignoring it.

Oh, gee willikers, maybe the next two nominees will be just as good! We'll know in just month! It's just so High School to act like the Republicans are once again eating Harry Reid's fucking milkshake! Grow up, guys! Stop being mean to Harry!

No, TomP, not all Dems suck all the time. But, pray, do tell, what are you trying to accomplish by rationalizing our Senate leader's abject failure to lead?

Take note: If you and I are engaged in a heated exchange, disabuse yourself of the notion that I'm trying (futilely) to win you over. My goal is to persuade the hundreds of non-commenting observers who've yet to make up their minds.
