    What Have We Learned?

We have learned that when Senate Republicans are confronted with a choice of letting a nomination go through or a rules change where they will lose the power to block all nominations, they will let the nominee be confirmed.

An important bit of knowledge that I hope will be a teaching moment for Reid and Senate Dems.  As long as the Nuclear threat is credible and they don't cave, they can most likely get Republicans to cave on most nominees.

      1. Are we really going to have to have this fight every time Obama tries to fill a vacancy in his administration? There are a lot of vacancies.

      2. This leaves completely unsolved the issues of judicial nominations and, of course, legislation (though the House makes the latter somewhat less urgent in the short term, of course).

and there ARE times when keeping your powder dry for another battle is a wise choice.  This MAY...note the conditional....be one of those times.

Time will tell....the option is still out there, and I think the good Dr. is right....using the threat judiciously may yield even more results...especially on judicial nominations.

Having said that, nothing would please me more than shoving it down the Turtle's throat....but that's probably not how it will happen.
