but he was a classic at-risk youth

parents divorced, having trouble at school, hanging with
a bad crowd, associated with crime, getting suspended from school.

and he was a wanna-be gangster.

maybe he was trying on roles, maybe he thought he could be a rapper or hip-hop artist,  and gosh, a lot of teens go through spells of trouble.  Darrel Issa seemed to be flirting
with car theft for a couple of years.

All i know is that when trouble was coming, TM didn't move away from it towards home and safety but ended up wrestling in a dark dogwalk for the last minutes of his life.

    •  Oh yes, he smoked pot so he was (8+ / 0-)

"associated with crime" and hanging with a bad crowd. Jesus Christ. What is even the relevance of the minor trouble Trayvon had gotten into? If he were a choirboy with no record and straight A's, but still a black kid walking through Zimmerman's neighborhood, he would just as dead as he is today.

      •  his mother sent him to live with his dad (0+ / 0-)

he was in miami, she felt he was in trouble
and no doubt either his dad could do a better job
handling him or it would get him into a better context.

i do know this if he had kept moving and hustled home,
he'd have been eating skittles and drinking juice and playing call of duty while GZ would be having a coronary, looking for him.

"When trouble comes, it is best not to let it find you".

            did you know TM?

            did you know GZ?

            •   Just pathetic. You're making claims about (0+ / 0-)

Trayvon and about his family. Ridiculous ignorant claims that clearly show your prejudice.  Then you respond in a childish fashion underscoring your own ignorance. Absolutely pathetic

                that's my point.

                •  Your point? You have no point. You have a callous (0+ / 0-)

disregard for the death of young man. With your flip little remarks about him and what he should have done. I wonder if it was your son lying dead if you'd be telling everybody

                  So tuff fucking luck, aye?

                  Why stop there?

It's too bad she was raped and all, but she shouldn't have  been wearing that short skirt. Or walked down that road. Or been female.

Like I said. Teh stupid. It burns.

toward him. For blocks. Finally, when GZ got out of his car, and walked right at Trayvon, Trayvon shifted from running away to standing his ground. I'd do the same thing, as would my teenage sons. You are blaming Trayvon for this, which is unbelievable. "If he'd only kept running away, into his apartment and bolted the door behind him, he'd be alive today". What a bunch of bullshit. And the fact that his parents were divorced and his time was split between them is no different than like half of America, yet with Trayvon it is a sign he was "an at-risk youth". You've been defending GZ and blaming Trayvon Martin in your comments in various diaries and for some reason people have not caught on. I have.

I think many people who go by the evidence presented at trial are going to believe that's what happened.

Granted we don't get to hear Trayvon's account of what happened, but the prosecution did a really poor job of finding any holes in Zimmerman's account.

There was no confirmation of Zimmerman's claim that Trayvon started the fight, but beyond that, the majority of the evidence suggested Trayvon was on top and beating Zimmerman, who was yelling for help.  There was no evidnce that Zimmerman struck Trayvon, the only injuries they found on Trayvon were the bullet wound, and abrasions on his knuckles from punching Zimmerman.

Now it's certainly possible that this evidence was manipulated in subtle ways, including by both the police and prosecution.  But why would they do that?  Maybe because the police and prosecutors also believed Zimmerman's account.

I was in High School with, but I think you missed the mark with Trayvon.

As for wanna-be-gangsters, those walk around carrying guns and engage in drive-by shootings/drive-by profiling.

how is Trayvon somehow immune such ubiquitous teen behavior?

No one is saying he deserved to die for it but he doesn't need to be over-romanticized as some angelic waif drifting through life on clouds of sweet child-like innocence and boundless benevolent love for his fellow man.

He was a teenager, like we all were.

....and people that "walk around carrying guns and engaging in drive-by shootings" aren't "wanna-be-gangsters" they are violent criminals.  Anyone that engages in a drive-by shooting is a menace and should be incarcerated, not pitied.  There is no evidence Trayvon ever did this, he merely made pop-culturesque "gangsterish" references to himself. a lot of kids do...

or to imitate hip hop stars or play bad-ass rapper.

it's not, but, if you find yourself in a dark dogwalk
and you are being followed, you best know how to
          handle it.

if you have a lead, use it.

if you have a phone call for help.

if you a reasonable place of refuge, take it.

if GZ had been a male rapist, would anyone have encouraged TM to face him down?  if GZ had been a robber, would anyone have encouraged him to face him down?

of teenagers today have had a pic taken of them holding up their fingers gangsta-style. It is an iconic pose. It means absolutely fucking nothing. But one pic like that posted to a Facebook page is enough to convince even people here that he was a "gangster wanna-be" and a "troubled youth". The only criminal activity this kid was involved in that Sunday night was aggravated WWB (walking while black).

Re: your stupid link in your stupid post.

I'm a white female in her 60's. I went to an all -girls Catholic high school and you could have taken that picture of me and every one of my classmates many times over.

It has zero to do with being a wanna be gangster. That's so stupid, it's boggles the brain.

take a "creepy ass cracker" back home to where there was a 12 y.o. waiting alone. Trouble came when TM's killer initiated force by attempting to restrain him - that would have caused the "get off, get off" shouting by Trayvon as testified by Rachel. As far as I can tell, that's the FIRST indication of a physical altercation. At that point, TM's killer has become the aggressor and Trayvon has the right to defend himself. You already have TM's killer's mindset established by his "these assholes always get away" claim on the phone call. He sure wasn't going to let Trayvon get away hence the attempt to restrain and the start of the fight.

Just another faggity fag socialist fuckstick homosinner!
