Because lately we're getting slammed from all sides. We go to the Moral Monday protests and get ourselves arrested one day, then the next day we come here to DailyKos and get treated to comments like these about "deserving" what we get and not doing what we should do and suggestions that we get outta Dodge.

The only way out of this seems to be up. You know -- like Up. *pointing toward the Ceiling Cat

My daughter and I are trying to popularize a neologism: schmool. That's the particular type of sigh we make when we roll our eyes. It's quite a distinctive sound, right? I've been schmooling quite a bit while reading some of these comments. You can probably hear.

being spread to a lot of groups lately. Apparently, the citizens of Texas, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Michigan and Ohio are only getting what they 'deserve' because they didn't work hard enough for freedom. I've even read today that African Americans are to blame for Florida because they didn't GOTV enough.

It doesn't matter if you point out gerrymandering (which people take pains to explain again and again), or wolves in sheep's clothing, or obstacles that have been thrown up to keep people from voting (hello eight hour voting lines), or the people rising up to strike down a piece of legislation only to have their rabid state reps pass it again. Nope, those of us watching our rights stripped away are all just a bunch of stupid, apathetic, loser, pansies and we only have ourselves to blame.

I like schmooling! It is a better choice than doughnutting - which I have been sorely tempted to abuse lately when I see comments like the one above.
