GOP knows it would only have the Senate for two years, then the filibuster would be gone for good. 2016 Senate Map

I disagree with Kos, but I believe he is implying that the Dems can threaten to end the filibuster in order to get judicial appointments and pass a legislative agenda.

So Democrats can now wield this against Republican obstructionism in legislation and judicial matters as well.
If this were true, why would the Republicans even bother to go along with this game?  It would be to their political advantage to let the Dems dump the filibuster and then try to run on how dictatorial and unfair the Dems are.  After all, the Dems can't get anything passed the house anyway.

But if they believe the Dems won't do what they haven't done for over 4 years, than just keep filibustering everything and force the Dems to keep bluffing about ending it.
