  •  it wasn't him who was on the jury (3+ / 0-)
    •  True. But he *is* a member of the bar (0+ / 0-)

Although if he's only a member of the Florida bar he might as well be a member of the bar of a banana republic.  I doubt they have any ethics code there that would cover ... much ... malfeasance.

      •  Its not unethical (0+ / 0-)

for a lawyer to contact a literary agent in a case that you aren't involved with.

        •  it may not be "illegal" (2+ / 0-)

is that what you meant to say?

          •  no (0+ / 0-)

            I meant to say unethical.

            •  Then you have a warped perception ... (0+ / 0-)

of "ethics" and "noninvolvement" from a legal, or frankly, any other perspective.

But, really, have a nice day!

              •  Not really (0+ / 0-)

What was this lawyer's involvement in the case? He wasn't a an attorney, party, witness or juror. It is not unethical for him to be talking to anyone about it, other than a sequestered juror, presumably his wife. There's no evidence at this point that he did this.

As for the nice day, thank you. I will.

                •  Ah the elephant in the room ... (0+ / 0-)

                  but the pièce de résistance:
There's no evidence at this point that he did this.
Lolz!  You actually made my day with that one!

What? They must hold the Guinness World Record for coming up with a book idea, finding an agent, finding a publisher and getting booked on television after the verdict was issued. Because if any of this happened before or during, it was a clear case of jury tampering. Yes by a spouse of a juror who happened to be a lawyer.

                  You are hilarious!

                  •  What elephant (0+ / 0-)

You actually have to have evidence of said elephant for it to even be in the room. If you've got evidence that this attorney called his wife or vice versa during the trial, please provide it. Otherwise you are engaging in rank speculation. It ought to be pretty easy for the court to determine if the sequestration rules were violated as I understand the phones were monitored.

What? They must hold the Guinness World Record for coming up with a book idea, finding an agent, finding a publisher and getting booked on television after the verdict was issued. Because
This isn't an accuarate statement of what happened. They found a publishing agent to find them a deal. There was no book or deal for one at this time. There was no publisher. Getting booked on televison? Wow. What are the odds that a juror willing to speak out on a major trial could get booked on teevee? In a matter of days? Has such a thing ever happened before?
The agent is supposed to make the deal for them. That's what agents do. The book, to my knowlege is not writtten. Developing an IDEA for a book about a jury trial isn't exactly an ardous process.

your grammar to "It wasn't he who was on the jury".

I will now beat myself with banana leaves and inflict multiple paper cuts at the shame over my grammar fetish.
