that, because a Democrat is in the White House, DKos has posters who have become knee-jerk authoritarians to the point of needing to smear anybody pointing out abuses by the government.

And no, Snowden isn't the one making the decisions about how this story is going to be covered.  The people at the major networks are just like this diarist.  They choose to make it personal while avoiding the issues brought up by the leaks.

The point about the torture is actually very simple.  You don't think that he has all of this information in his head, do you?  He has a computer science solution here - either involving software or hardware, that would wipe the information under certain circumstances.  For example, if he doesn't enter a certain password every day, the data gets wiped.  (I don't know if this is exactly what he's done, but it's the kind of thing a hacker would do.)

Your diary is nothing more than self-gratification.

what Snowden has said all along is not that his data will be wiped, but that it will get out.

Please see any of a number of stories, but the Daily Beast one I linked to above will work:

The arrangement to entrust encrypted archives of his files with others also sheds light on a cryptic statement Snowden made on June 17 during a live chat with The Guardian. In the online session he said, “All I can say right now is the U.S. government is not going to be able to cover this up by jailing or murdering me. Truth is coming, and it cannot be stopped.”

This information is not new, what is is his claim to be proof against torture.

You know that most hacking is through social engineering, right?
