  •  Well, if we're going to do the English lit thing, (5+ / 0-)

Then how about Fannie Hill (1749) when she accidentally opened a package:

"Her sturdy stallion produced that wonderful machine, which I had never seen before, and which, for the interest my own seat of pleasure began to take furiously in, I star'd at with all the eyes I had: however, my senses were too much flurried, too much concenter'd in that now burning spot of mine, to observe anything more than in general the make and turn of that instrument, from which the instinct of nature, yet more than all I had heard of it, now strongly informed me I was to expect the supreme pleasure which she had placed in the meeting of those parts so admirably fitted for each other."

“If the misery of the poor be caused not by the laws of nature, but by our institutions, great is our sin.” Charles Darwin

    •  What? People had SEX in 1749? (0+ / 0-)

I thought sex was invented by diabolical liberals during the Summer of Love!

I thought that before that, everyone just kept their legs closed and took cold showers (did they have heat back then, anyway?) and reproduced asexually, by budding.  Or maybe spores.
