  •  I started seeing these quite a bit last year here (0+ / 0-)

in Columbus -- they always cruise festivals and other larger gatherings, but can be seen rolling around on normal days as well.

I was riding back from a Saturday meeting last Fall and we passed a Grandview (suburb) cruiser parked in a lot near an intersection. Dreary day, no traffic, not in any hurry at all.

We turned the corner and before the blinker turned off that cruiser was on our tail lighting us up.

In literally 3 - 4 seconds after passing that cruiser, the camera had read the plate and determined that the owner of the vehicle was in violation of Ohio's "insurance caging" scheme... where the BMV randomly mails out requests for proof of insurance (via plain old regular mail) and if they don't get that proof back within 30 days you're considered driving without insurance.

Well, she was apparently sent one of these deals and either didn't receive it or let it get mixed in amongst all the other crap mail or whatever, and boom... she was nailed by one of these internally-mounted cruiser cameras and was written up, fined, and had to show up in court to prove she actually had insurance.

While he had us pulled over the cop asked me for my drivers license and I just said "sorry - I don't drive" (which is true) and he amazingly didn't pursue that any further. He let us go because she did actually have insurance, but she still got hammered for not responding to that letter.

How many Congressmen and Senators allow fracking on or near their property?
