  •  There's no debate, really. (8+ / 0-)

People with good intentions do not put human-slaughtering devices in the hands of civilians. That's pretty much the opposite of what "good" is.

"human-slaughtering devices." The problem is, how do you take away the guns you are afraid of without taking away the tools and sporting implements that millions of Americans need to use or enjoy using regularly?

... citizen is a radical concept?

Calling other DKos members "weenies" is a personal insult and therefore against site rules.

      •  Licensing - NY handgun license fees were (7+ / 0-)

upheld last week as constitutional by 2nd Circuit Ct. of Appeals.

This is an application fee to possess a handgun in your home.

Public carry is even more strictly regulated. Back in April SCOTUS declined to review New York's CCW law.

give a shit about people's "sport."  I take your "sport" and raise you 20 massacred first graders.  There is no sound reason for households to be stockpiling lethal armaments.
If that interferes with somebody's enjoyment of their "sport" or "hobby" that is just too fucking bad.

High-capacity weapons should be taken away and melted down, and manufacture of them for sale to civilians should be banned.  Gun licenses should only be issued after someone passes a safety test and a background check. Gun owners should have to re-take the safety test every annually.   People who don't keep their guns secured should be ticketed, and multiple offenses should lead to revoked licenses.

And if that interferes with someone's enjoyable pastime, too fucking bad.  I'm sick of guns killing kids.

them keep their licensed and registered weapons in licensed, registered and inspected "gun clubs" where they can shoot sportingly all day and night, as long as they want.

There's no "sport" in leaving your .45 on the nightstand so your 4 yo son blows his own brains out.  There's no reason for semi-automatic weapons in any home.
