About 20 miles north of Harrington Beach.   Harrrington Beach was a place my brother and I would stop when riding our bikes from West Allis up to my parents' farm in Cleveland.

Headed later today to the recreation area at the mouth of Fisher Creek.  Though I live in California these days, going to Fisher Creek has been a summer tradition for the past 45 years.

Here in Manitowoc County the Lake ain't what it used to be.  Run off from the factory farms has caused massive algae blooms that then turn to a dark green oobleck-like soup washing in to the beaches.

This aggression will not stand, man.

an invasive species have filtered the water so thoroughly that it is clearer than ever before. Less food for native species and the sunlight reaches deeper, creating larger areas where the algae can bloom. More algae = more dead algae oobleck soup.

      Thanks for dropping in, cheese.

The Lake was clear and cold, no oobleck.  Spent some time swimming and just standing in the Lake, feeling the familiar curve of the shore, the two Sheboygan smokestacks and listening to the inimitable music of small waves making sipping sounds as they gently broke on the pebbles of the beach.  Those are comfort sounds for me.

Great to be back in the Badger state.
