    and for god's sake there is nothing in them that anyone should have a problem with.

    He makes a valid point about how he could have been Trayvon and how we should think about if Trayvon would have been able to self defend himself with a gun.  Those are thoughts that everyone should consider.  And if everyone truthfully considers them, they may be faced with some hard questions.  

    But the rest of it?  Logical, sold stuff that frankly my 91 year old (slightly racist) grandmother would agree with.

      They'll go from the statement

      All black men have experienced being followed when they were shopping in a department store.


      All black men are always followed when they shop in a department store.


      All black men are always followed by all the white employees when they shop in a department store.

      I.e., as if the original statement says that all white people are prejudiced against black people all the time. Of course, it doesn't say anything like that. But then, to some folks, it's always about them, whether it's a good thing or not.

      Let us all have the strength to see the humanity in our enemies, and the courage to let them see the humanity in ourselves.
