there. I am neither amazed nor surprised that whites supposedly "over" the racial thing suddenly became very symptomatic of outright racists.

I have been surprised by that effect in a few individuals that apparently were just quiet during careers in which they obviously had to work and "get along" in a mixed environment. Somehow having the country confirm, not once but twice, that a person of color could win the top national office seemed to just unhinge them. I can only imagine how those of similar deep views that did not serve in the military or civil service reacted.

Bluntly, it is one final reason among a number of their political/personal trademark traits why GOP identification now is an automatic strike from my list of anyone I want to even remotely have dealings with if possible. A GOP bumper or yard campaign sign is for me about what a black skin would mean to a KKK type—just based on something other than a natural phenomenon of genteics.

The only foes that threaten America are the enemies at home, and those are ignorance, superstition, and incompetence. [Elbert Hubbard]
