    When I left Detroit I, personally, had never experienced a police response time of less then an hour and a half. Since then Bing has fired 40% of the police.

    Yes, Barrow is technically right when he says that we could bumble on for several more years with fully funded pensions before we gut them, but in the mean-time people are dying or preventable murders.

    And the only think my fellow Kossacks seem to care about is retirement benefits for baby boomers.

    Look, I'm not saying this is fair. I'm not saying it's right. What I'm saying is that a) Detroit is not governed, and this is literally killing people, b) it's illegal to raise taxes, and c) nobody is willing to either bail the City out or approve a massive tax hike. This means that d) somebody has to be fucked, and I see no reason that shouldn't be the unions.
