  •  So many "responsible" gun owners and yet so (5+ / 0-)

little respect for other people's rights or even life.

After you're finished expounding on the foolishness of having 'little respect for other people's rights', would you care to share your thoughts on 'repealing or amending' a constitutional amendment?

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.

      •  Maybe these 40 people had a right to be free from (4+ / 0-)

foolishly fired bullets in their bodies.

Maybe kids have a right to be safe from sloppy gun storage and handling.

The child victims of GunFAIL this week are ages 3, 4, 6, 6, 8, 9, 9, 15 and 17, and includes yet another case of a pre-school-aged boy shooting his sister, in case you thought that was terribly rare.
        Let's expound. In great detail.

Consider Roe v Wade.  The SCOTUS "discovered" a "penumbral right" and "abortion on demand" became law of the land -- for nearly 18 months.

Then the Right to Life movement got active, and within 2 years, no FEDERAL money could be used to PAY for abortions thanks to the Hyde Amendment.

Fast forward 40 years, and practically speaking those who want abortions are pretty much back to where they were in 1972:  if they have the funds they can travel to a jurisdiction where abortions are both legal and available.

The discovered "right" itself.   That's pretty much over.

And so it will be with the Sacred Second.

You'll be able to KEEP all the guns you now own (probably) You just won't be able to buy more, sell to others, or transport across state lines.

And probably, the "carry permit" laws will be adjusted to be more consistent with those of the stricter states rather than the laxer  states.

Too bad.  So sad.  Get over it.

        •  That would explain why the AWB passed with such (0+ / 0-)

          ease, amirite?

I appreciate your fan fiction, but I appreciate commenting on reality.

And the reality is that you're not going to see the AWB again on the national stage for a loooong time.

Too bad. So sad. Get over it.
