  •  Likely from Oregon, WI ... (5+ / 0-)

... which in in Dane County.  The man was going to traffic court at the Dane County Courthouse, which implies he was local.  But it's actually even a bit worse than just forgetting he had a gun in his backpack.  Unless this backpack that he forgot the gun was in happened to be on his person at all times, he was keeping his gun where his children could find it:

MADISON (WKOW) --- A 44-year-old man was stopped and questioned by Dane County Sheriff's Deputies Friday after attempting to bring a gun into the Dane County Courthouse.

The gun was in his backpack and found by a screener.

The Oregon man was arriving for traffic court with his two children when he voluntarily let his backpack go through the weapons screening.

    •  I occasionally lose track of my pocket knife ... (1+ / 0-)

but not often and not for long

That's because the knife is part of the wallet, keys, and cellphone package that I always take with me when I leave the house.

Because these things are really important to me ... and because I'd really HATE to lose them -- drunk or sober I know where they are.

I cannot IMAGINE just "losing track" of something as large, heavy and significant as a handgun.

So, if the dementia praecox is that far advanced ... the carry permit OUGHT to be rescinded.
