  •  The Long Run (none)
I've always been accutely aware that "The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice."

How many centuries did it take for us to do away with slavery in America?  And how long after that to do away with segregation? So I know all about long.  You're talking about things in a much shorter time-frame.  If you think on that time-scale, it's very easy to get discouraged. Of course I want to see things change as fast as anyone else. Faster, even. But I keep my sanity by remembering the long run.

And that's the sort of change I saw today. It could mean we will win back Congress in 2006. I think that's a very real possibility now. But if we don't, I won't see that as invalidating what I saw.  What I saw was something on a more fundamental level, something taking root, which could take longer to flower.

    •  OK. I'm a long run kind of guy, too .... (none)
...and I look for signs of impending breakout every day in hopes that accumulating bits of good news now will mean that next year or the year after we and our cautious allies the Democrats will finally get the upper hand against the devils who rule us. It's been a couple of good weeks in the revelations department and even in the resistance arena, but our misleaders continue to take us closer to the abyss.
