    It often makes one the champion of conceptual perfection and the enemy of practical good.

    * the neocon foreign policy - label

    * move the Dem party to the right - label

    * still believe he is a "progressive". - label

    Things do not fit your preconceived notion of what a label means and that's enough for it to be ruled Bad.

    Labelism is the shallow end of the political pool. After hearing labelism and nothing but labelism from the GOP my entire life (Conservative = Smart, liberal = Bleeding Heart) I have grown up with a powerful distain for labelism.

    Those would be my opinions on the Labelism label.

        Some people end up like you and me - disgusted with the GOP's hollow assertations.

        Others spent those years gobbling it up with a spoon. Today those people are called Tea Partiers.

        So the fur on my back stands up when I encounter labelism offered as a substitute for analysis. Regardless of the direction from which it's arrived.
