  •  I think she has a better chance at Senate (0+ / 0-)

I think it's easy to go up against the "DC establishment" and someone as boring as Cornyn.

    •  Boring Conservative (6+ / 0-)

Especially a boring conservative incumbent, will be a very difficult person to beat in a red state. I think Cornyn would level her.

Remember, boring inoffensive incumbents of the same party as the state, that don't make enemies, rarely lose.

      •  True..although, Wendy Davis is not a boring person (0+ / 0-)

herself. I think there is room (but it is too early to tell) to run a Senate campaign based on immigration reform failing, while also going after McConnell's henchman in creating the obstruction in national politics.

Cornyn is running to his right out of fear and could put himself in a precarious position with the shifting demographics of the state. I actually think we have a better chance at Senate than Governor in general because the immigration issue is only really front and center at a national level.

    •  What about AG (2+ / 0-)

she is an attorney and Abbott is obviously leaving to run for governor. It could potentially position her for a future governor/senate run. Or is there no point in having a strong AG candidate if we don't have someone as strong at the top of the ticket?

      CA-12, (-5.50, -6.77), originally CA-46

    •  Senate is her worst option (3+ / 0-)

She can't transfer her money she's raised over to a federal account, plus Cornyn can raise.

If she's not going for Governor or running for re-election, the only good choice is LG. LG in Texas is actually a powerful position, there's a nasty 4 way R primary going on that will leave the winner of it with no cash, and there's a good chance Dan Patrick, a conservative radio host/state senator gets through.
