  •  True that these other languages preceded the (0+ / 0-)

stories as they were retold in Hebrew. Interesting though is that many of the words were adopted into Hebrew and the original or as some believe the hidden meanings of these tales can be determined if you know the original meanings of rhe words as the priests in those time surely did. This was typical of middle eastern and Mediteranean mystery religions where the initiated knew and the rest of the population just believed whatvever was fed to them. A lot like the mega churches of today except all those leaders only know power.

and all of a sudden the mystery goes away and you understand how irrelevant and unnecessary the religious gloss is to the storyline.

      Spoiler alert:

The Sons of Israel spent half a millenia in Egypt not as slaves but as Hyksos, "foreign kings"; doctors, lawyers, diplomats, businessmen, cattlemen, skilled craftsmen, horsemen, mercenaries, traders, administrators, priests and adventurers. They dressed in silks and scarlet leathers, and carried tons of gold and silver with them when they left.

The reason they left was that the emporia they had taken over in the delta were reintegrated and assimilated into Egyptian life making them eligible candidates for corvee labor, service in return for sustenance and they had better things to do than their share of the work.

In response to the new dynasty of Amose and its new rules the Hyksos who had held positions of power in the old dynasty made new rules. They invented a new religion with a new god they carved in stone and made sovereign over all the other gods. The carving of the new god was housed in an ark and the ark placed in a sanctuary in the Egyptian manner.

The idea of making the written law sovereign and sacred was that no one man could determine what the consensus of the people to be law abiding was going to establish as its constitution.
