  •  You have some good ideas there (5+ / 0-)

I have done a couple of those, donating to a food bank isn't too hard, they'll take my apples, I really like the idea of bringing food to migrant workers in the fields; where I live goodwill has amazing clothes cast off by the summer complaints. For me the biggest luxury would be finding the time to make shingles to fix all my leaky roofs.

It's amazing how hard we have to work in pursuit of our little piece of the profit...

If there was NO profit motive, and we were just trying to get things done...

I don't blame Christians. I blame Stupid. Which sadly is a much more popular religion these days.

In America, things are never called by their right names.  Race to the Top!, and the Clear Skies Initiative come to mind.  I'm sure we can come up with a couple of dozen such deceptive names.  Orwell would be so proud.  So, we can't reconsider communism here, we can't even name it.  But, we can build community projects.

As long as someone else controls your labor, your little piece of the gain from that labor will be just that, a little piece.  Take away that control, by acting in concert with your neighbors, friends, or business associates, and the rewards flow back to you.  Finding the time and resources to start that is hard, but worth it because the rewards are great.  What's not to like?

where money is not a good reason for doing or not doing anything and people compete to be better at sharing rather than owning.
