say, generally speaking, the grant funding going to online projects for civic engagement isn't turning out what I'd consider great results. The Knight foundation has funded a number of these , they are heavy on info theory and tech and light on actual useful features.

In Maryland there is something ... My maryland.org? ... Which to me still resembles Facebook for the General Assembly.

Meanwhile tools to dig into the content of bills or good tools for transparency at the state and local level go missing.

It's curious that ALEC and Koch are getting results at the state level with good old caseloads, while most transparency orgs are fixated on the Federal gummint.

Leaving newspaper s... All financially wheezing ... And the occasional TV station to try and do this.

I want an online analysis tool called The ALEC Detector which crawls the web and finds identical bills. And allows users to upload a PDF so it can flag canned language.

    Thump! Bang. Whack-boing. It's dub!
