couldn't get it together last cycle, splitting among so many candidates that meant there was no unified competition against Romney.

They're poised to do the same thing this time, each sub-camp believing that their favorite crazy person should be the nominee.

If they can unite behind Rand, for example, it may block Christie from advancing.  You say Rand is as crazy as Cruz?  Agree.  He may be even crazier.

look for the RNC to change the delegate allocation rules. No way the RNC allows them to destroy the party in one fell swoop. They need to at least save the rump to keep collecting checks from the rubes.

    •  Cruz is not crazy. Rand Paul is. (2+ / 0-)

Cruz is devious, skillful and politically ambitious.  He would never hire a white supremacist to work on his campaign; he would never come out publicly against civil rights legislation, and he would never be caught defending his sense of entitlement .  He's a master at talking past his interrogators by invoking "freedom" and "personal responsibility."  He could just as easily have been a progressive ideologue and demagogue for the far left if that role could have propelled him to political stardom in Texas and onto the national stage.   He's dangerous.  Rand Paul is not.

you indicate he is.  But I think he's pretty much a nut job as well.

Rand Paul really is off the charts.

Here's hoping neither of those guys has a path to the GOP nom.

It's interesting that Jon Huntsman thought he had a crack at it last time, but he found himself in a pack of absolutely crazy candidates.  As he looks around this cycle, it doesn't look as if things have gotten any better.
