  •  It's on Netflix (6+ / 0-)

for instant streaming, at least it was recently because I watched it there.

My $8/month subscription to Netflix streaming and my Roku have been a wonderful, fun thing for me and worth it many times over. While I'm in treatment for an extended illness it gives me something to take my mind off of things. I don't have cable and don't want it. I like ad-free entertainment and ad-free educational programs.

Where in the Constitution does it say: "...on behalf of corporate interests" ???

set top (or even thumb-drive sized) boxes for $50-$100.

But I can't rule out Roku. I don't recall ever reading a negative review of Roku.

Reaganomics noun pl: belief that government is bad, that it can increase revenue by decreasing revenue, and unregulated capitalism can provide unlimited goods for unlimited people on a planet with finite resources.

in your home, setting up the Roku is so simple even a 58-yr old can do it! My biggest challenge was locating my Airport's (wi-fi box) password. For some reason I hadn't written it in the usual password place.

As I said above, the Netflix streaming has been great for me as a sickie couch potato. But in past years I rarely watched much TV or movies so much of what's on there might be old hat to more sophisticated viewers...

PBS and the Smithsonian also have Roku channels and I occasionally find something on those to watch.

As our finances improved this year, I'm now occasionally 'renting' a movie from Amazon. Again, streaming amazon to the Roku is trivial. I'm very, very happy with this thing.

      •  Roku really expands our viewing (5+ / 0-)

We watch a lot of British programming, and my hubby gets a lot of sci-fi.  It just provides stuff that you can't get elsewhere, without ads.  You can also watch TED talks, Al-Jazeera, and all kinds of other things besides Netflix.
Best of all it's not pricy.
