  •  huMpday Cheers from sunny beach central (9+ / 0-)

Cheers to Bill and Michael and the furbabies, and to all the kids who come to play in da pool.  Waterwings are available from the cabana boys; please remember to tip your server.

You did it again, Bill.  That pic of The President and the baby brought me to tears!!  Happy Tears...the bestest kind.  How can anyone hate that man???  ♥

Cheers to books and those who love them!!  I finally made it into Antiquarian Books, the oldest book shop in NH, and one of the oldest in New England.  I've passed it so many times, and kept meaning to stop in.  Taaadaaaa!  Success!  ZOMG!!  Stacks and stacks of books...everywhere, floor to ceiling and  aisle after aisle.  And the smell!!  For those of us who love the printed word, and the heft and texture and aroma of books...old, leather bound, and with whiff of pipe smoke....new, paperback, and barely a scent at all...ahhh, BOOKS!!  I went looking for the sequel to a book I read as a teenager, that was written around the turn of the last century and set in the years right after the Civil War.  For the life of me, I could not remember the author's name.  Isn't that the way it always happens?  Instead, I found a copy of a first edition of one of the Beat Generation books.  There was also a nice collection of Doc Savage paperbacks in great condition...for a mere $450!  I need to hit the lottery!!  :-)  When time and finances permit, I shall return for a few more ''ordinary'' books...as if there is such a thing.

Cheers to continued cool weather.  It was so pleasant, I didn't mind the downpour...except for that stretch of Rte. 1 that can flood rather nastily. Along that particular bit, it suddenly dawned on me that a.) Full Hunter's Moon and b.) neap tide can combine to form c.) Holy Rowboat, Batman, it's a flooded road!!  Nope.  The Almighty takes care of fools and children (that would be moi) and all was well.  On my way home, the skies had cleared, and I thought I might get treated to a rainbow.  No such luck, but I had one singing in my heart, so it's all good.

Jeers to 'Vlad the Glad' Putin-On-The-Spits.  All levity aside, Mr. Macho of Moscow is doing his utmost to deprive a goodly portion of the population of their human rights, and of any chance of equality in Russia.  Dave in Northridge did an excellent diary on this yesterday; here's the link:

Do go read it and spread the word.  It may very well be that we (the USA) will have to boycott the next Olympics to make the point that Ol' Vlad the Derailer is not going to get away with that...mess.  As an aside, I have had my suspicions about Putin for quite some time.  Any man, especially the leader of a fairly important country, who goes to such lengths to prove his macho cred is either concealing his....shortcomings, or "protesting too much".  In neither case does he have the right to deprive citizens of their human rights, to destroy the lives of children and families, or to try to inflict his barbarism on people who are merely visiting his country.  bleccchhh.

Cheers to humpday...and camels.  Together, they make me laugh!

Cheers to all of us who love and are loved.  Nothing else compares.  Be good to each other, kids....it doesn't really take much.

We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
