Our ability to stand up for our rights as American citizens and as human beings in the face of strong alliances between our government and the big powerful corporations, not least among them the oil and gas companies, is directly affected by the amount of power these entities have over us, including the ability to track every detail of our lives and activies. Good luck fighting for clean air and water when the government labels you a terrorist for demonstrating against energy companies. How can we be so short-sighted to not see how these issues are all connected? These increased government surveillance and increased policing powers are in direct support of corporate power and direct opposition to democracy. As is the attack on whistleblowers, journalists, and freedom of information in general. Wake up!

...leads to a jumbled mess of a discussion and nothing done in the end except talking.

If everything has to be dealt with at once, the problem becomes too big to be addressed in any way, and anyone trying to grapple with it will be overwhelmed by helplessness and hopelessness.

please. Some of us can handle the mention of more than one related topic at a time. If you find a comment confusing or distracting, please ignore it. We really do need to draw connections if we can, so posting of related but "tangential" issues should be encouraged, not discouraged.
