Sometimes, the only way to get an issue addressed is to create a controversy.  If there are not two sides, you can't have a controversy.
Controversy is how things are dealt with in this country.

No doubt, General Alexander collecting and accumulating all data is a bad idea. But, that's what obsessive collectors do, unless they are stopped. The secret review by the Gang of Eight has obviously not imposed any restraints.
Who are the Gang of Eight?

    Speaker of House — Boehner
    Minority Leader — Pelosi
Leader of the Senate — Reid
    Minority Leader — McConnell
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Chair–Feinstein
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence V.Chair –Chambliss
House Intelligence Committee Chair — Rogers
House Intelligence Committee V.Chair — Ruppersberger

    •  Does that make Obama an obsessive collector? (1+ / 0-)

After all, his administration approves and defends this stuff.

The influence of the [executive] has increased, is increasing, and ought to be diminished.

      •  He's not doing the collecting. Since Obama (0+ / 0-)

wants to have a conversation and the Intelligence Committee chairs are proud of having appropriated more money than the President asked for, one might suspect that Congress has selfish motivations and looks upon contracting for electronic surveillance and secret data collection as a sure fire program for rewarding friends and punishing enemies -- enemies being all people who presume to rule, as in government by the people.
You don't really expect the President to be checking invoices, do you?

          Do you really believe that?

          •  Knowing is not doing. (0+ / 0-)

I will grant that some people take the intention for the act. I keep them separate, regardless of whether I am in favor of the action, or not.
Making a man President does not make him all-knowing. That attribute is reserved for God.
