    We also had a very small NYC walkup for two years that we paid two grand a month on one time. East fifties (in the Seventies). Occasionally one of us would stop by there and crash. More frequently, we'd get a $500/night mini suite at the U.N. Plaza for a week or two.

    And, no, NYC is not "very rich or very poor". It's the land of opportunity for those hunting the opportunities it provides. Different strokes for different folks (which is the only reason why you can still hide out out in the wide open spaces that you crave.)

    There can be no protection locally if we're content to ignore the fact that there are no controls globally.
