  •  I'm sick to death of the "We didn't know" defense (7+ / 0-)

I will grant that there could be large ad buys, sometimes made by third parties even, that the sponsor trusts the consultant to place.  That happens, and I would buy into it if this were a brand new phenomenon.  But this has been going on for at least a year now, ever since the Sandra fluke episode.  If sponsors aren't paying attention any better than that, they're getting what they deserve.  But even THEN I could maybe believe that they didn't know if they had to rely on their own people to track when the ads were on.

But let's face it, with this campaign -- no THESE campaignS, plural -- in operation, you don't have to listen to the show, somebody else is doing that part for you and TELLING YOU THAT YOUR ADS ARE RUNNING THERE.  That and the "our contract isn't up yet" dodge are the two most popular non-defenses going, and I for one ain't buying it anymore.  and you can quote me.

I'll believe corporations are people when one comes home from Afghanistan in a body bag.
