but, holy crap, do I hate their politics. And honestly, because they think in such a way that they vote for GOP candidates, I absolutely believe there is something wrong with them on a fundamental level. It sucks.

I m not sure why people are surprised about the work of this Assembly. Back in October, I was telling my friends (and in multiple diaries here on dcos): NEVER EVER vote for a Republican, no matter how nice they are. I have teacher friends, who voted for McCrory ... Because of Gerrymandering, it will be almost impossible to defeat these people in 2014. But we need to understand that, it is a long term project. It will take many election cycles, lots of voter education and plenty of patience to get NC back to 2008 level.

But we must start to organize. We need leaders. True leaders. Who is leading the Democrats in NC? We need a "Wendy Davis" type personality.
Key Hagan? Bev Purdue? AG Cooper? Dalton? We need a face.

I think McCrory getting in was a reaction to the fact that the last Democratic governor was deeply unpopular for a lot of people who normally vote for the Democratic Party, and they voted for the other party in retaliation. Most folks probably didn't even realize that our last governor was the only thing standing in the way of a total far right takeover of our government. They just didn't like her.
