I am shrugging.  My memory was that the city was actually paying a very small proportion of the total cost, but I accord no special privilege to my memory of the situation.  I wonder why the reports are so divergent - it could be because the deal came together extremely quickly, or maybe the details were not publicly summarized and reporters got it wrong (e.g. when people jump the gun on a SCOTUS decision and give people the wrong takeaway), or all sorts of reasons that are academically interesting but unhelpful to us here right now.

I'm usually the kind of person to jump down the throat of factually incorrect reporting like white flies in heat but, for some bizarre reason, every. single. report. about this stadium is fundamentally different from the previous report, and the next fundamentally different from this one, and so forth and so forth.  Maybe after the dust settles it'll finally be clear precisely who is or isn't paying for what.

The figures are widely available, and of course they vary somewhat because figures change over the course of a project like this. Don't make the mainstream media mistake of thinking because there are small deviations, the truth is unknowable and it must be a myth that this is largely taxpayer-funded.  Not a myth — truth.
