Clever!  Java isn't letting me recommend your comment, but that's pretty funny.

if still utterly silly. The seniors actually would be destroying their Medicare by siding with these idiots.

But the whole thing with college students...just boggles the mind. How many of 18-24 year-olds actually buy their own health insurance anyway? Most either get it through an employer or (thanks to Obamacare) now can stay much more cheaply on their parents' policies. The very idea that they could even get college students other than their pet College Republicans to pay attention to this (much less dislike or protest against it) shows they not only have no idea what's actually in the ACA, but they also have no idea what college students actually worry about.

the intellect of [U.S.] college students. I won't be the least bit surprised when footage of college students burning those cards pops up on the nightly news. We tend to forget just how brainwashed those on the right are. Make no mistake, some will do it. And I'd bet many more than any of us (including me) think will engage in the cavalier and rebellious tact of going without health care. It will make them special. They will beat their chests about it. We're talking about a group of people that includes those who will drink beer from a funnel because their friends say it is fun. Anyone who believes the collective "they" will completely ignore this does not understand the mindset of the far right or how far reaching that stirring is.

          of "Obamacare," would it matter?

College Republicans aren't the type to let a few facts get in the way of a fervently-held ideology.

that I exempted the far-right of college students (my quip about College Republicans), but they really aren't that big on most college campuses. I doubt they'll have much influence, even as a media prop, since it's pretty hard to make a big deal out of a handful of students on a campus protesting...well, anything.

I do have a pretty good idea of the intellect of the average college student, having taught at the college level for ten years before I switched to teaching high school a few years ago. I can assure you that the vast majority of my students would have looked at this nonsense from Reince and his team and given it a "WTF do I care about that?" Their main concern is how they're going to get a job when they graduate to pay off their loans, not being "forced" (which most will know they won't be) to buy insurance on an exchange.

the sons of Bubbas and the sons of the captains of industry (whose daddies can pony up the $$$$ to pay cash for health care if they actually did get some terrible illness) to see who can caterwaul the loudest.
