    When one can no longer justify the water of life. I can't afford to buy it, but when I do a favor for a neighbor they are aware while I won't take money I will take a bottle of scotch. That scotch sits where I can keep an eye on it but not drink it until I have reason to celebrate; I'm always planning on having reasons to celebrate but my scotch lasts a good long time.

      I mean, my former inlaws.

      Many years ago, long before I was married, I remarked to my father that "Divorce is an expensive luxury." To which he responded, "No, divorce is an expensive necessity."

      And so, weirdly, the thread wraps 'round itself once more.

      To put the torture behind us is, inevitably, to put it in front of us.
