    "The only reason people are out there trying to turn two dimes into a quarter is they can't finance basic needs anyway else," due to the tax cut mania/ revenue enhancement phobia of the past few decades.

    Doubling down on bad risk is a sign of desperation not unlike if one takes a payday loan to deal with an emergency, loses their job, then pawns their car to make a payment on the loan. Without transportation they are less likely to find a job, so things continue to become more and more dire.

    The reluctance to fund government adequately spawns many of these ugly fruits.
