    when you are under  duress and do not know what you are consenting to is not valid consent.

    here is  dusten brown's side of the story.  it differs significantly from what has been written about this case.

      I can't imagine any scenario in which a text message should be accepted as a consent to terminate parental rights. Whenever I've seen a TPR it's involved a lengthy discussion with the parent, often times in front of the court, with the parent being asked about a hundred times "are you sure" - and being reminded of the gravity of the situation and the irreversibility of the act, much in the way that a plea bargain is taken in federal court.
