    "And when unemployment is still too high, and long-term unemployment is still too high, and there’s still weak demand in a lot of industries, I want a Fed chairman that can step back and look at that objectively and say, ‘Let’s make sure that we’re growing the economy, but let’s also keep an eye on inflation,” Obama said.

    “If the markets start frothing up, let’s make sure we’re not creating new bubbles,’” he said.

    My feeling is that he'll skip over both Summers and Yellen, if for no other reason than their names have caused such a stir.  I'm remembering when he chose Kagan and Sotomayor--both were on the radar screen more or less, but other candidate's names were being kicked around in the press.  

    Like you say, whomever he selects, I hope it is someone who will focus more on what the Fed can do to stimulate employment and keep the banks in check.
