  •  I got nothing (6+ / 0-)

    On a creativity scale of 10 I have a minus 100.

I am the poster boy for lack of talent. Zero. Nada. Zilch.

Not going anywhere on that train.

Couldn't get on the radio in third grade.

Thank goodness talent was not one of the requirements for graduation from anywhere.

Just being here makes you a Personality. Talent is just a word. Probably means "has a good agent".

      hnichols,

I bet you DO have a talent of some kind that can be used very creatively. I know sometimes it can take the right person to help bring it out.

A friend from a little Unitarian fellowship I used to attend told me that before I arrived there a talented choir leader had put together quite a successful little choir with apparently minimal talent. A few of the people couldn't seem to carry a tune even in the proverbial bucket, but by the time the choir leader got through with them they were singing on melody without wavering. These were people who others thought just could not sing at all. Turns out its an 'ear' thing. Their auditory sense had been confused by those singing harmonies alongside them and as a result had trouble staying with a melody line. They just needed a little ear training.

I took that as a testimony that sometimes it takes just the right type of nudge. Also, I'm not necessarily referring to performing. So many just do not want to perform. Understandable, but doing what you do from the feeling of it and for the love of it is what is important.

People with no previous indication of artistic talent have taken up painting in their 80s.

I insist on believing that we all have some kind of creative force within us, even if it wants to give birth to something we wouldn't normally put in the 'talent show' category.

People are always more valuable than properties.
