  •  After I washed out of teaching, I had a choice (0+ / 0-)

I could make minimum wage doing something boring and enervating and of no particular social value and gradually come to hate myself and my life, or I could make minimum wage doing something interesting and enjoyable that made use of my unique constellation of skills and that made other people happy.

I opted for the latter. With a group of partners, I'm working to open a not-for-profit chess center in the city of Chicago.

I'd appreciate any help the DKos audience cares to provide.

"The great lie of democracy, its essential paradox, is that democracy is the first to be sacrificed when its security is at risk. Every state is totalitarian at heart; there are no ends to the cruelty it will go to to protect itself." -- Ian McDonald
