  •  The baby sparrows that fledged here a week ago (9+ / 0-)

seem to have gone off to new pursuits now. After they first fledged, they went out exploring and working on skills, then they would fly back to the bird house for a safe night. Now they seem to have left the birdhouse for good.

I miss the cute oak titmouse family that lived near my old house in Santa Rosa, CA. I don't have oak trees here in Eureka, CA, so no squirrels and no titmice. Our now resident hairy woodpecker has been visiting the suet regularly since he discovered it last week.

A nice, quiet Monday here today, foggy and around 57F out there. Hummingbirds abound in the back yard on the fuschia bush. I am happy that they are happy.

    •  Our Oak Titmouse family lives in our orange (6+ / 0-)

tree. They moved there from our spruce (because it is closer to th3e feeder, I presume). At any rate, I suspect that oaks and oakland woodlands aren't necessary, even if that is their preferred habitat.
