    These accounts portray the DNA testing as having resulted from cooperation between Midwest Innocence Project and the prosecutor, who sought testing to find an accomplice.

    The diary says that the court clerk "pointed out a precedent," but that suggests to me that she provided a court case interpreting the statute.  She provided a motion filed in another case which served as an example of how to follow the procedural statute.
